FRAGMENTS

Breaking news stories - right here - right now.

What would your headline be?

Rolling news stories fill our screens every day, every time we pick up our phone, there is a never ending backdrop of information that gives an account from a particular point of view.

We asked refugees and asylum seekers what their headlines would be - and to air these views as breaking news, the stories that matter to them as an opportunity to present a counter narrative in a world where so often their own experience or version of events may be overlooked or left unheard.

Fragments is an evening of theatre inspired by The Living Newspaper, a 20th century Federal Theatre project in post-war USA during the Roosevelt era. An arts movement that became an important vehicle for unemployed artists and citizens to express their views after the great depression. Similarly since the devastating effects of the current pandemic, we feel we are living in unprecedented  times, so come and hear first-hand the stories that matter to writers who are experiencing the world as asylum seekers and refugees right here, right now, in the UK in 2021.
